Hey! It’s the Fringe in Edmonton from August 11th to 21st and this year was my first performance in the Fringe. Okay, maybe performance is an exaggeration. It was an “audience participation” segment where my raffle ticket was called and I jumped on stage using all the improvisational skills I learned in Junior High drama class. Yeah!

So far I’ve watched 8 shows this past weekend and, luckily, no real stinkers. The worst thing so far are when the performers are promoting their show when I’m stuck waiting in line. I understand the concept of promoting to a captive audience – that’s where an entertaining sandwich board promotion can be very effective. I’m not going anywhere, I’ll most likely see it. If I’m not interested, I’ll look away. But when the one-to-one interaction happens, I just end up looking like a rude $#%&*.

So instead I’ll just graciously accept the postcard and I’ll never look at it again. Yay Fringe!
